International Badminton Centre ("IBC", "we", "us" or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains how we collect, hold, use and disclose personal information in connection with our Archerfield and Coopers Plains venues, websites and booking services.

It applies when you visit our websites, register for a booking account, book a court or social badminton session, visit our venues or contact us.

1. About this policy

This policy also covers personal information handled on our behalf through our linked Yep!Booking services.

We handle personal information in accordance with applicable Australian privacy laws, including the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply to us.

2. Information we collect

Depending on how you interact with us, we may collect:

If you register or sign in using Google or Facebook, the booking service may receive information you authorise that provider to share, such as your name, email address and account identifier. We do not receive your Google or Facebook password.

Please avoid providing sensitive information, such as health information, unless it is necessary for your enquiry or participation. Where we need to collect sensitive information, we seek consent unless collection is otherwise permitted or required by law.

3. How we collect information

We generally collect personal information directly from you when you:

We may also receive information from our booking and payment providers, an identity provider you choose to use, or someone making a booking on your behalf.

If you provide another person's information, please ensure you have their permission and make this policy available to them.

You can make general enquiries anonymously or using a pseudonym where practical. However, if you do not provide information needed to manage an account, booking or payment, we may be unable to provide that service.

4. How we use information

We use personal information to:

If we send promotional emails or text messages, we will do so with consent or as otherwise permitted by law. You can opt out using the unsubscribe facility in the message or by contacting us.

Opting out of marketing does not prevent us from sending service messages needed to manage your bookings or account.

5. When we share information

For information other than CCTV footage, which is addressed separately in section 8, we may disclose relevant personal information to:

We limit disclosures to information reasonably needed for the relevant purpose.

Where payment details are entered directly into a payment provider's system, that provider also handles the information under its own privacy policy. Our records may include payment confirmations and transaction references.

6. Cookies and website technology

Our websites and booking services may use cookies and similar technologies to operate website features, support sign-in, maintain security and remember preferences.

Our service providers may also collect technical information about website use to operate, maintain and improve their services.

You can manage or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling some cookies may affect website functionality, including account login and booking features.

Third-party services accessed through our websites may use their own cookies and technologies. Please review their privacy information for details.

7. Storage, security and retention

We hold personal information in electronic systems used by our business and service providers, and in paper records where relevant.

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Access is limited according to the relevant person's responsibilities.

No electronic system is completely secure. Please keep your booking account credentials confidential and contact us if you suspect unauthorised use.

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide our services, maintain required records, resolve disputes and meet legal obligations. When information is no longer needed and retention is not legally required, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

CCTV recordings are subject to the seven-day overwrite period described below.

If a data breach occurs, we will assess and respond to it and notify affected people and regulators where required by law.

8. CCTV in staff areas

IBC operates CCTV only in staff areas for safety and security. The system records video without audio.

Recordings are automatically overwritten after seven days.

Footage is made available for viewing only by police for official duties, subject to applicable law. It is not used for promotional purposes.

For privacy enquiries relating to CCTV, please contact us using the details in section 12.

9. Overseas service providers

Some technology providers we use may store or process personal information outside Australia, or allow access by overseas support personnel. Whether this occurs depends on the provider and the service being used.

Where an overseas disclosure is subject to Australian privacy law, we take the steps required by that law to protect your information.

You may contact us for information about overseas handling associated with our services.

10. Children and young people

Where a booking or enquiry concerns a child, we collect only the personal information reasonably necessary to manage the relevant service.

Where consent is required, we consider the young person's capacity to consent and involve a parent or guardian as appropriate.

Parents and guardians may contact us about information relating to their child. We may need to verify their identity and authority before providing access or making changes.

11. Access, correction and account closure

You may request access to personal information we hold about you or ask us to correct information that is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.

We may need to verify your identity before responding. We aim to respond within 30 days. If more time is needed, we will let you know.

If we cannot provide access or make a requested correction, we will explain the reason where permitted by law and how you can raise a complaint. Access may be limited where necessary to protect other people's privacy or where an applicable legal exception applies.

You may also request account closure or deletion of your information. We will consider your request alongside any legal obligations and continuing need to retain relevant records.

12. Contact us and privacy complaints
